Traditional with a twist! 5designer ways to re-style, re-use, re-vamp silk sarees

Lakmé Fashion Week 2018 ringed in its Sustainable Fashion day in order to pay tribute to all the craftsmen who came in collaboration with designers to exhibit their organic collections on the runway.

The platform has time and again served as a medium to revive traditional looms and take the legacy ahead in contemporary and modern fashion.

When two great names in fashion come together, the result is a magnificent showcase on the runway. RmKV Silks and creative designer Sunita Shanker unveiled a magical presentation titled “Re-crafting Traditional Silks”.

Set up in 1924, RmKV has been a pioneer in silk saris, offering its customers superior products, design innovations and revolutionary techniques in handloom silk.

With an illustrious history, RmKV made its first foray at the fashion week.

Aiding their craft, Sunita Shanker is one of the most respected names in the fashion business.

Her experiments with Ikat, Bandhani as well as prints on Chanderi, Tussar, Khadi and Mangalgiri have earned her rave reviews from fashion connoisseurs.

This time around she is your guide to revamping traditional silk sarees with a modern twist. She says, “There can be small scale design interventions, new colour palettes and not just limit creations to borders and pallus.”
