Healthy Banana Appams Recipe


Method to make Appams:

  • Step 1:Take a large bowl and mash the ripe banana in it. Once done, add the powdered jaggery along with 1/4 cup rice flour, wheat flour, and cardamom powder. Mix well all the ingredients using a spoon.

  • Step 2:Slowly add water in the bowl to make a batter that has pancake like consistency. Once the batter is prepared, add baking soda and mix well. (Tip: If you think batter is not smooth then you can grind 2 rounds in a mixer.)

  • Step 3:Now, heat the ‘paniyaram pan’ and grease the mould well with a drop of ghee.

  • Step 4:Now, pour 2 tablespoons of the batter in each mould. (Tip: Keep some space in each well while pouring for the appam to rise.)

  • Step 5:Cover the pan with a lid and cook for 30 seconds on medium flame. Take off the lid and flip the appams. Add another drop of ghee to each mould and then cook for a minute. Once done, take them out in a plate and serve hot
